News, Stories, and Tips

While the sun is still shining and it appears we will enjoy fall, it’s hard to think about winter and the office Christmas party. However, now is the very best time to start organizing the office party for December.

Use our helpful tips below to ensure you are organized well in advance and can enjoy the festivities!

Party Planning Tips

Never wait until December to start planning the party. You may miss out on discounts and availability. Now is the best time to start making inquiries.

Pick a suitable date and location. Call suitable locations for policies regarding rental costs and services. Start early for the best selection and prices and to avoid the heavy competition from other companies hosting their Christmas parties. Pick a date that doesn't interfere with important work deadlines or management reviews. Scheduling the Christmas party after work hours is the best way for employee spouses to participate or during working hours if the party is only for employees (without spouses).

Obtain the party budget from company management. Review the budget to establish your spending limits. Prioritize your budget items so that the party necessities are at the top of the list and "extras" are toward the bottom of the list. Most companies like to offer a full meal but you can also choose a cocktail style reception, and spend the extra money on door prizes or a Christmas bonus for the employees.

Decide the overall level of formality of the Christmas party. Take the budget and the company's corporate atmosphere into consideration. The goal is to make the party guests feel comfortable while keeping company traditions intact. Don't assume that the workplace atmosphere is desired at the company Christmas party. Some corporate offices opt for less formal Christmas parties to give everyone a chance to relax, such as a catered lunch brought into the office. Some industrial workplaces opt for formal Christmas parties to give everyone a chance to dress their best, such as renting a hotel ballroom or going to a golf and country club.

Make sure to follow these basic guidelines and your office party will be a success!

Morgans Restaurant and Wine Bar is the perfect location to host your holiday celebration. We currently have space available on both Friday and Saturday nights in December. We offer a variety of seating and menu options and we are best suited for groups of 20 – 40 people.

The clubhouse is beautifully decorated with tasteful holiday décor, and we look forward to welcoming your group to Morgan Creek.
