Wayne Vollmer Announces His Retirement
To My Morgan Creek Friends,
I wanted to let you know that I have made the decision to retire from my position as the Director of Golf at Morgan Creek Golf Course as of February 28, 2021.
This has been a difficult decision, but after more than 60 years in the golf business as a PGA Tour Professional, Head Professional, and Director of Golf I feel that it is time for me to set some new goals. As you well know, with summertime being the busiest time of the year in the golf business, I have had little time to spend with our family, especially the grandkids, little time for golf trips or for enjoying outdoor activities. Susan and I have our new E-Bikes – we can’t wait to enjoy some new summer adventures both here and away. Also, I definitely need to work on my health and fitness – excuses will be much harder to come by!
From my first day on the job here, 26 years ago, I have really enjoyed being part of the Morgan Creek Team and have been truly privileged to be associated with the Barker family and the business in which they have shown such vision, pride and integrity.
Being Director of Golf at Morgan Creek has been a truly spectacular experience and my life has been greatly enriched by the time I have spent here. As you can tell, I am very proud to have played a part in the building and growth of our wonderful facility. I am not leaving the Club, just retiring and looking forward to my time around the Club as a leisure activity – it will be a novel experience indeed!!
My friends, it has been a great pleasure to get to know you over the years. Please take care and I wish you all the very best.
Sincerely,
Wayne Vollmer
