The 2018 Morgan Creek Junior Club Championships were held over 36 holes of stroke play, August 27 and 28, and the season-long Match Play Championship concluded September 9.

In the Stroke Play Club Championship Flight, consistent strong play from a familiar player at Morgan Creek, 16-year member Angel Lin showed all of her competition, both male and female, that she was up to the challenge. Lin also defended the Junior Girls’ Championship title at the same time.

After finishing 2-under on her last five holes in round 1 to post a 2-under par 70, she took a one-shot lead over Defending Champion Hudson Squirell (71), and a three-shot lead over Kyle Flewelling (73) into Round 2.

A quick start on Day 2 saw Lin increase her lead to 3 shots through the first 2 holes, where it continued through 9 holes. Lin and Squirell traded birdies at 11 and 13, respectively, and then again at 17 and 18 to wrap up their day. Our NEW 2018 Morgan Creek Junior Club Champion, Angel Lin signed for 70-73=143 (-1) finished her day with a three-shot victory over runner-up Hudson Squirell 71-75=146 (+2) and by 8 over 3rd place finisher Dylan Prasad 75-76=151 (+7).

Squirell also edged Alex Amos-Schappert in the Net Championship (by retrogression), after both players shot great net scores of 67-71= 138 (-6) over the two days.

In the Young Stars Division, Kaitlyn Anderson shot net scores of 69-72=141 (-3) to best runner up Harrison Janssen, who shot 74-74=148 (+4).

In the Match Play Championship, the Final Match saw Malcolm Mori edge Dylan Prasad to capture the Title.

Mori, the #7 seed from qualifying, edged #3 seed Alex Amos-Schappert in their semi-final match, while Prasad, the top seed from qualifying, edged #5 seed Kyle Flewelling in their semi-final.

Congratulations to all of the winners and competitors in the two great Championships!
